21st Annual Benefit Auction - Thanks to all you who joined us on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Central Church of Christ Annex during the Annual Auction. We had wonderful people, great items, and a blessed event. We raised over $11,000 to support the ministry to the children and provide for their needs.

September 25, 2010 - 3rd Annual Wade Scharff Memorial Golf Tournament - The Third Annual Wade Scharff Memorial Golf Tournament was a huge success! More than 100 players gathered at River Falls Plantation to remember Wade Scharff and honor the children of Southeastern Children's Home. Special thanks to the Scharff Family for taking on an important roll to raise support for the care of the children at Southeastern Children's Home. read more

May 2010 - 20th Annual Auction Special thanks to the businesses who donated wonderful items for our annual benefit auction, the volunteers, and visitors. We were able to raise over $7,000 to go toward meeting the needs of the children we serve.
May 5, 2010 - EAGLE Re-accreditation Southeastern Children's Home received re-accreditation from EAGLE Accreditation Commission. EAGLE (Educational Assessment Guidelines Leading toward Excellence) is a quality enhancement process for faith-based healthcare and human service organization. This process must be renewed every five years.

March 2010 - SECH receives grant from SC Compassion Project On March 22, 2010, Southeastern Children's Home was awarded a $20,000 South Carolina Compassion Grant from Clemson University and The Spartanburg County Foundation for a Board Governance Project. A qualified consultant contracted with will do extensive board education and training during an August Board Retreat. The retreat will focus on governance issues and develop a revised board manual. Board members will do a comprehensive assessment of their legal roles to ensure the mission of Southeastern Children's Home is carried out effectively. The Board will also address new laws governing non-profits, transparency requirements, changing economic and political climates, and diversity issues for Board membership. Because the Board is accountable for all aspects of the organization, the effectiveness of the Board has a direct impact on the services Southeastern Children's Home provides to at-risk children.
February 2010 - SECH receives Fujikura grant AFL Network Services announced that Southeastern Children's Home is the recipient of a $4,750 Fujikura Foundation grant to support counseling sessions for families in the community in need of counseling at a reduced rate or at no charge. The areas of counseling include, but are not limited to, stress management, family strengthening, parenting, anger management, and mild depression.

2010-2011 School year starts August 17 Education is a major emphasis at Southeastern Children's Home. Students attend Byrnes High School in Duncan, SC, one of the premier high schools in South Carolina. Our Family Service Center includes a summer education program and an after school classroom during the school year. These programs offer remedial and enrichment opportunities for the students. These educational programs score well when evaluated by standards set forth in a 2008 Dropout Prevention Study conducted by the US Department of Education, Institute of Educational Services.
Southeastern Children's Home scored well on recommendations 3-5 out of six recommendations in this government study. Recommendations 3-5 are: provide academic programs to improve student's classroom behavior and social skills. Personalize the learning environment and instructional process read more
